Arvika Shawl - English Pattern
I decided to split the patterns of Kite-o-Mania and Arvika Shawl and to improve the instructions with symbols.
This is the Arvika Shawl, the shape resembles more an arrowhead or a V than a triangle.

I bought that wool in the yarn store “Fantasy” in Arvika and knitted it while being on holiday in the Arvika area. That is why it is named “Arvika Shawl”.
Material: You can choose any wool you like. You should use needles at least 2 needle size thicker than recommended for the yarn.
The material in the photo is Öland wool (ull), 2-ply, the shawl weighs about 350 g and the size is 140 x 280 cm. With about 220 g you should at least reach a size of 100 x 200 cm. Instead of Öland wool you can use Kauni or Evilla, if you like the colour effect.
Instruction:
always k on RS and p on WS, except the middle stitch, it will has to be p on the right side. The first and last two stitches always k ( R in the chart)
Cast on 5 stitches
R1 k2, yo, k1, yo k2
R2 k2, p1,k1, p1, k2
Continue with the chart, first the right side pattern, then the left side pattern.

Note: “R” means k2 on right side rows and k 2 on WS as well. The other stitches on WS are knit.
Knit to the desired size, then end with 4 rows garter stitch. In R4 of garter stitch, increase the stitch number by 20 %, knitting k1, k1tb into every 4th stitch.
Bind off: **k2tog, slip stitch back on left needle***
Finish the shawl by blocking it.
Enjoy it !!!

[...] a pattern that made sense. It wasn’t my ideal choice at the time, but I eventually settled on the Arvika shawl. And let me say how glad I am that I did this! The pattern is very simple, intuitive, and looks [...]
