KAL Winterhauch countdown… 3, 2 …

Nur noch zwei Tage, dann geht es los, der KAL

Es war viel Arbeit, das Tuch zu entwerfen und probezustricken und nun bin ich gespannt, wie viele an der Stola mitstricken. Es ist ein geheimnistuch aber eins kann ich verraten: Sogar mein Sohn, der sich sonst gar nicht zu meinen Strickereien äußert, hat die Stola bewundert. Es lohnt sich also, mitzustricken.

Just two days are left until the KAL Winterhauch starts. It was a lot of work to design and testknit the stole, and now I am curious how many people will take part. I cannot say a lot about it yet, as it is a mystery KAL, but thee is one thing I can tell you. My son usually never says a word about my knittings, but he really admired this stole. So it is really worth to take part in the KAL.

Woolomania

Der Mystic Earth KAL fängt morgen an. Ich überlege immer noch, welche Wolle ich nehmen werde. Am Wochenende habe ich ein bisschen Milchschafwolle gesponnen.

Rechts ist die Milchschafwolle, links dünne Sockenwolle mit 500 m Lauflänge je 100 g, heute morgen ist die Lieferung von Garnexpert angekommen. Im Moment tendiere ich mehr zu der Sockenwolle. Ein zweites Tuch aus Milchschafwolle könnte ich ja immer noch stricken.

Und hier ist meine MUsterprobe/Swatch:

Und hier sieht man die gesamte Lieferung von Garnexpert. Im letzten Winter habe ich versucht, dreifädige Sockenwolle zu bekommen. Das ist unglaublich schwierig, und es gibt nur sehr wenige Farben. Dann habe ich den Link zu Garnexpert in einem Forum gesehen und es immerhin geschafft, mir vor der Bestellung 24 Stunden Bedenkzeit einzuräumen. Aber wenn man 1200 Gramm Sockenwolle mit 500 m Lauflänge für 100 Gramm in der Zusammensetzung 80% Wolle – 20%  Polyamid für 8,50 €uro bekommen kann, sollte man ja wohl nicht zögern. Für so wenig Geld bekommt man sonst kaum 100 g, weil es die dünne Sockenwolle nur in 50-Gramm-Knäueln gibt. Die naturweiße, camelfarben und hellgraue Wolle sind z.T. auch zum überfärben.Die kleine Kone ist reine Viskose, das wird vielleicht ein Frühlingstuch. 650 Gramm für unglaubliche 4,11 €uro.

The Mystic Earth KAL will start tomorrow. I still haven’t decided which wool to take. In the photo you can see some milksheep wool I spun at the weekend. And on the first pic you can see the sockwool that just arrived from Garnexpert. Right now I tend more to use the sockwool, and I could still knit another shawl with the milksheep wool.

The second pic shows the complete delivery from Garnexpert. Last winter I tried to find some thin 3-ply sockwool, bt that was very hard and I did not find a lot. And there are only a few colours available. Then I saw a link to Garnexpert in a Forum, and I really managed to wait 24 hours before I ordered. In fact, I think there is not a lot to think about if you can get 1200 grams of sockwool (80% wool – 20%PA) with 500 metres per 100 grams for just 8,50 €uros. The 3-ply in shops only comes in 50 gram balls and 100 grams cost as much as I paid for 120 grams now. The off-white, camel and bright grey wool are also for dyeing. The small bobbin is viscose, 650 grams for just 4,11 €uros, and might serve as yarn for a spring shawl. I just sent an email to the shop to ask if they also deliver to foreign countries and will telll their answer here.
The answer came quickly: They deliver worldwide.

Mystic Earth KAL – SOTS iii Hint 7

Anna macht wieder einen Knitalong, Mystic Earth KAL, den dritten in der Mystic-Reihe „Wasser, Feuer, Erde, Luft“. Diesen Knitalong darf ich natürlich nicht verpassen.

Ich bin durch meinen eigenen KAL ziemlich beschäftigt gewesen und muss mir mal langsam überlegen, mit welcher Wolle ich den Mystic Earth stricken werde. In der engeren Auswahl war Kaschmir, aber die braucht ein Weilchen, bis sie fertig gesponnen ist. Sockenwolle mit 500 m Lauflänge je 100 Gramm wird wohl am Montag hier ankommen, die würde gehen. Allerdings kam ich heute auch an dieser Wittener Milchschafwolle aus meinem Rohwollstash nicht vorbei und haben mal ein bisschen kardiert:

Sicher bin ich mir aber noch nicht, welche Wolle ich tatsächlich nehmen werde.

Anna is starting a new KAL on 30th September, the Mystic Earth KAL, third in the series „water fire(light) earth, air. I definitely need to take part in this knitalong. My own KAL took lots of my time, but I need to think about which yarn I should use for the KAL. I thought about Cashmere, but that take quite a while to be spun. I am waiting for the delivery of some sockwool with 500 m per 100 grams, which would be nise as well. Or I could spin some of the milksheep wool in the photo.

Hint 7 of the SOTS iii is finally done as well.

Frost!!!!!

Es ist der 19. September, und es hat in der letzten Nacht Frost gegeben!!!!!!!! Ich kann mich nicht erinnern, dass wir schon mal so früh im Jahr Frost hatten.

 

 

 

 

Die Fotos vom Raureif kann ich leider im Moment nicht bearbeiten, denn mein Computer läuft im Moment nicht richtig. Ich hatte in dem letzten drei Wochen reichlich Trojaner-Attacken, das Antivirenprogramm hatte reichlich zu tun. Gerade hat mir AVG eine Datei mx51530.dll gemeldet, die sich bei C/WINNT/system 32 eingenistet hat. Aber Vorsicht beim Löschen anderer Dateien. Die Trojaner können auch andere Dateien verändern, so dass der Computer gar nicht mehr läuft. Es scheint jedenfalls ein fieses Programm zu sein. Es nistet sich in vorhandenen Dateien ein und versucht gleichzeitig, den Virenscanner auszuschalten. Ich lasse den Virenscanner jetzt immer aktiv mitlaufen, wenn ich den Computer laufen lasse. Drückt mir die Daumen, dass ich diese gemeinen Computerlebewesen bald loswerde.

Frost!!!!!!!!

It is the 19th of September, and it has been freezing during the night. I cannot recall any year that we had frost this early. I uploaded some photos, unfortunately I cannot process them. I had some severe trojan attacks on my computer and some programs don’t run as they should, eg the photo processing program and the email program. I had attacks during the last weeks, so I always let the antivirus program scan all the time while I was using the computer. Still it seems soem  file called mx51530.dll made it to C/WINNT/system32 . Still you have to be careful what you delete, because the Trojans might invade in a system file. And if you delete that one, your computer wont run at all. Please press your thumbs that I will soon get rid of these nasty little creatures.

SOTS iii Hint 5

Dieser Hint vom SOTS iii ging noch schneller zu stricken als der letzte. Ich stricke ja im Moment außerdem an dem Entwurf zur Mystery Stole Winterhauch, da scheint das Stricken noch schneller zu gehen.

Das Tuch sieht ein bisschen ulkig aus. Es ist schon recht groß, deshalb habe ich es sowohl an der Rückenlehne und der Sitzfläche des Sofas angepinnt.

This hint of the SOTS iii was even faster to knit than the last one. Right now I am also designing and knitting the mystery stole Winterhauch (we will also publish an English pattern for that one), and it seems that this is accelerating my knitting speed. The photo looks a bit strange because I pinned the stole to the back and the seat of the sofa, as it is pretty huge already.

Kein Klavier 2 – No piano 2

Leider war das mit dem Webstuhl doch nicht so einfach wie gedacht. Auf einmal sollte er doch nur mit bestimmtem Zubehör verkauft werden, und dann fast 40% teurer sein. Da war ein wenig der Freude dahin. Also habe ich umdisponiert und mich doch dazu entschlossen, den Raum ziemlich vollzupacken. Denn auf einer holländischen Internetseite war seit Monaten mal wieder ein wirklich interessanter webstuhl drin, und das gleich hinter der Grenze. Also haben wir heute ein riesiges 3D-Puzzle abgeholt und hier aufgestellt. Allerdings dauert es noch, bis ich loslegen kann, richtig weben zu lernen. Es gibt noch einiges zu erledigen.

It was not as easy to get a loom as I thought. After agreeing on the price and what wwent with it, I got a call that I had to take some equipment as well for an extra price of 40% plus, which I actually did not want. And then there was this classified ad on a Dutch website, showing this loom, the best one for me since months. I measured the room again and again, changed some plans about the room and we drove there and bought that huge 3D-puzzle today and put it up in the room. But I still got some errands to do before I can start to learn weaving.

SOTS iii Hint 4

Auch dieser Hint ging wieder superschnell von der Hand, das Muster ist genau mein Rhythmus

Ein langer Fernsehabend, und schon ist der nächste Teil des Tuchs fertig. Aber es gibt viel zu tun, bis der nächste Teil rauskommt. Mit Nadja zusammen entwerfe ich ein Wintertuch für einen Mystery-KAL im Forum Handarbeitsfrau. Da gibt es noch einiges zu planen und zu zeichnen und probezustricken, dann das Tuch soll im Oktober veröffentlich werden. Deshalb gibt es hier im Moment auch nicht so viel neues, aber ich werde rechtzeitig informieren, wenn der KAL losgeht.

This hint was my rhythm as well, so I finished it pretty fast. One long TV- evening was enough time for that. There is still a lot to do, Nadja and me are planning a winter stole for a Mystery KAL together, which will be published in the Forum Handarbeitsfrau. There is still a lot of planning and drawing and test knitting, because we plan to start the KAL in Ocobter. Thats is also the reason why you cannot see a lot of new things here, and I will inform about  the KAL here in time before it starts.

Kein Klavier – No Piano

Ja, diese Überschrift klingt seltsam: Kein Klavier, kein Klavier. Wer kennt nicht den Sketch von Loriot, allerdings ohne „k“? Ich durchforste seit Wochen das Netz nach einem gebrauchten Webstuhl. Dann kommt die Überlegung dazwischen, ein altes Klavier zu verkaufen, weil hier niemand mehr darauf spielen kann und dieses Instrument einfach zu schön klingt, um nur zur Zierde rumzustehen. Also durchsuche ich Kleinanzeigen im Netz nach Preisen für gebrauchte Klavier der Jahrhundertwende (es ist traurig, welchen Preis die erzielen, aber Hauptsache, es kommt in gute Hände, falls wir jemanden dafür finden) und gebe aus Spaß auch mal „Webstuhl“ ein, und da ist er plötzlich: mein Traumwebstuhl.

Nachdem ich mir erst mal anlesen musste, was wohl für mich ein passender Webstuhl sein könnte.  kristallisierten sich diese Kriterien heraus: Hängelade, weniger als 150 cm Webbreite, damit er in den Raum passt, Kontermarsch, mindestens 8 Schäfte, keine Schnelllade. Und ja, ich muss das Weben erst mal lernen, aber da ich nicht ganz ungeschickt bin, wird mir das schon gelingen. Ende des Monats ist die derzeitige Besitzerin in der Nähe, dann bringt sie den Webstuhl sogar vorbei.

Es wird ein Glimåkra Standard Webstuhl, sowas wie dieser hier , mit 135 cm Webbreite.

No piano refers to a sketch that everybody in Germany knows, it would be hard to translate the playing with words. Since several weeks I am surfing the Web for info about looms, to find out which one would be perfect for me and what kind of loom I actually need. I came to the conclusion that it should be less than 150 cm width, so that it is not too huge for the room, countermarch, at least 10 shafts and a hanging beater. I surfed almost any used loom I could find via Google, but then I found one by chance when I was looking for the prices of old pianos from around 1900, because we have one for sale. Nobody here plays the piano any more, and the sound of the piano is so wonderful that it needs to be played. After searching for piano in an only classified ads site I also typed „loom“ and found this one, which is my dream-loom. It is a Glimåkra Standard like this one , 135 cm weaving width, ten shafts. Hte owner will bring it to me by the end of the month, because she will come to my area anyway. I am really looking forward to the loom.

Ich habe mir ja Gedanken gemacht, wie die Ziehung möglichst fair sein könnte. Da kam mir die Idee, die Nummern an den Kommentaren zu nehmen (Nr. 14 und 21 fehlen wegen Mehrfachposting), auf die Klebeseite von Post-its zu schreiben und diese Zettel zuzukleben. Dann kamen diese in ein großes Glas und wurden mit einem Fön gemischt und mein Mann hat einen Zettel gezogen.

Leider habe ich noch nicht herausgefunden, wie man ein Video dreht und hier einbindet, deshalb gibt es nur  von der Ziehung, bitte hier KLICKEN

I thought about how it can be most fair to find the winner. So I got the idea to use the numbers of the comments (numbers 14 and 21 are left out because that person posted three timers), wrote them on the sticky side of post-its, folded them and put them into a huge glass. The post-its were mixed by a hairdryer and DH drew one number.
