Ich wünsche allen Lesern ein gutes neues Jahr 2009.

Vor ein paar Tagen wurde endlich das Mystic Earth Tuch fertig

Das Spinnrad Ella läuft derzeit fast ohne Pause, so wird immer mal wieder der eine oder andere Strang zum Zeigen fertig

Und hier ist die größte Überraschung, die zum Weihnachtsfest kam

Astrid/Buntesschaf hat mir „einfach so“ ein wunderbar weiches Heidschnucken-Lammfell geschenkt. Jetzt muss ich mich mit Kater Merlin einigen, wer wann das Fell benutzen darf, denn er hat sich genauso gefreut wie ich.

Finally I finished the Mystic Earth stole a few days ago.

My spinning wheel Ella is working almost permanently right now. To the left of the photo you can see soft wool of a „mix-sheep“ finnsheep x ryasheep. On the left is Eastfrisian Milksheep from Astrid’s sheep „Krissie“.

On Christmas Eve day, I got a „surprise parcel“ from Astrid. A wonderful soft lamb sheepskin fur of a German breed called German Heather…something  in English.

Versponnene Weihnachten – Spinny Christmas

Zu Weihnachten habe ich mir von meinem Mann gewünscht, dass ich besondere Wolle von einem Profi kardieren lasse.  Ein Teil meiner schwedischen Wolle

wurde bei Sauerlandwolle zweimal gekämmt, das Ergebnis ist ein Traum. So wunderbar vorgereitete Wolle hatte ich noch nicht in den Fingern, das Spinnen selber ging auch recht schnell. So waren ca. 400 g Wolle am Abend des ersten Weihnachtstages fertig gesponnen (die braune Wolle oben links)

Der vierte Strang wird schon verstrickt, daraus wrd ein Miralda’s Shawl aus dem Buch Knitted Lace of Estonia . Dieses Projekt finde ich sehr passend für diese Wolle, denn es ist eine Anleitung nach alten Vorlagen, und die Wolle ist von schwedischen Mischlingsschafen alter Rassen, Ryaschaf x schwedisches Waldschaf/Värmlandsschaf, ca. 400 g und 950 m.

Die Wolle oben rechts sind drei Farben von Hermann 20-farbig, ca. 300 g und 650 m, auch mal eben an einem Abend gesponnen und am nächsten Tag verzwirnt. Die Socken sind aus Schoppelkone gestrickt, die ich vor längerer Zeit versponnen habe. Diese Wolle ist superwash und damit für Socken gut geeignet.

For Christmas I wanted some of my best wool being carded by a professional company. Sauerlandwolle did double combing, the fleece is just a dream. I let half of the wool be combed and finished spinning the first colour of wool already. It is wool of a mix of ancient sheep breeds, Ryasheep x Värmlandssheep (about 400 grams and 950 metres, 2-ply). I have a perfect project for this traditional wool, Miralda’s Shawl from the book Knitted Lace of Estonia, which I started already.

Then I wanted to spin some colourful wool, so I chose three colours fromHermann 20-farbig and spun them in one evening and twisted it the next day. That are about 300 grams and 650 metres. I also finished some socks from a superwash roving that I spun some time ago.

Mystic Ice Shawl

Gestern kam der letzte Teil des Mystic Ice Shawl online. Dieser war recht einfach zu stricken, und so ist mein Tuch schon fertig und über Nacht schon gespannt:

Gestrickt aus selbstgesponnener Wolle, Merino Kammzug von Wollknoll, mit 4 mm Nadeln. 115 x 240 cm groß, Gewicht ca. 150 Gramm.

Yesterday the last clue of the Mystic Ice Shawl was released. It was easy to knit, so my shawl is finished already and blocked last night. It is knitted from selfspun merino roving from Wollknoll with 4 mm needles. The size is 115 x 240 cm and it weighs about 150 grams.

Mystic Ice Clue 5

Der 5. Teil meines Mystic Ice Tuchs ist nun auch schon ein paar Tage fertig, nun warte ich auf den letzten Teil, der am Montag online kommt.

Auch Hilja’s Mittens aus dem Buch „Folk Knitting in Estonia“ sind fertig geworden

Ich habe da mal sehr ungewöhnliche Farben gewählt.

Kaum zu glauben, aber in vier Tagen ist schon Heiligabend. Von der Vorweihnachtszeit haben wir in diesem Jahr nicht viel gehabt, auch das Fest wir sehr ruhig werden. Aber das größte Geschenk habe ich schon, Göga ist wieder aus dem Krankenhaus zurück und kann sich nun zu Hause erholen.

A few days ago I finished clue 5 of the Mystic Ice Shawl. Now I am waiting for the last clue, which will be online on Monday. I also finished Hilja’s Mittens from the book „Folk Knitting in Estonia“. I chose some uncommon clours to knit these mittens.

Hard to believe, there are just 4 days left until Christmas Eve. We didn’t have much of the time before Christmans this year, and also Christmans will be very quiet this time. But I already got my biggest xmas present: DH is home from hospital.

Mystic Ice KAL

Ich bin etwas verspätet beim Mystic Ice KAL eingestiegen, habe aber in der vergangenen Woche fleißig genadelt.

Nun ist Teil 4 bereits fertig. Die Wolle ist superweicher Kammzug von Wollknoll, da ist selbst Uruwolle hart im Vergleich. Heute nachmittag kommt der fünfte Teil online.

I started the Mystic Ice KAL a bit late, but took up with the clues now, no. 4 ist finished. The wool is very soft, roving from Wollknoll, and softer than Uruwool. Tonight clue 5 will be online.

Basteleien – Puzzling around

Eigentlich sollte der Kamin ja schon längst fertig sein, aber Gögas Krankheit ist uns dazwischen gekommen. Donnerstag muss er leider wieder zur 4. OP ins Krankenhaus, da werden wir mit dem Kaminumbau immer noch nicht fertig. Die Seite mit den Installationen verlangt einiges an Ideen, und auch die Steuerung muss nochmal umgebaut werden, damit sie gut in dem Kaminumbau passt. Das wird also noch ein paar Wochen dauern. Vorgestern sah der Kamin noch so aus wie hier

und das hier ist ein „Baustellenfoto“ von heute

Zwar ist er noch nicht fertig, aber das sieht schon mal besser aus. Es war mein erster Versuch, Fliesen zu kleben, ich bin zufrieden.  Wenn Göga wieder fitter ist, werden wir die restliche Seite fliesen, den Stein mit Fleckenschutz behandeln und dann verfugen.

Zwischendurch war es heute seeehr kalt im Wohnzimmer, denn es wurde eine weitere Umweltschutzmaßnahme durchgeführt. Die Hälfte des Fensterglases im Haus wurde ausgetauscht. Das alte Glas hatte einen Ug-Wert von ca. 3,0, das neue hat 1,2. Anfangs hatten wir überlegt, ob wir das alte Glas selber entfernen, aber das haben wir dann doch lieber Fachleuten überlassen

Nein, das sieht nur so aus, als ob es Spaß macht, das ist Präzisionsarbeit, damit nicht überall Splitter rumliegen. Nur zwei kleine Fenster ließen sich so ausbauen, die anderen mussten in eingebautem Zustand neu verglast werden.

The fireplace should have been finished since ages, but DH’s illness intervened that. He will be in hospital for his 4th operation on Thursday. The side with the installation needs some more ideas, plus the control panel has to be rebuilt. So this will take some more weeks to be finished. Two days ago the fireplace looked like on the first photo, today – still building site – like on the second. This was my first try to adhere tiles, I am content with the result. When DH is fitter again, we will do the remaining side, protect the stones with „anti-stain“ and fill the fugues.

Today it was veeery cold in the living room for some time. The reason was that we made a new envronmentally friendly porject. We got new glass for the windows, now they don’t let so much warmth get outside. In the beginning we thought about removing the old glass ourselves, but now we were lucky we did the specialists do that. On photo three it looks like the craftsman has fun, but it is more that he works with precision to prevent tiny bits of glass flying around. Only two windows could be done this way, the others could not be removed from their place.

Mystic Ice

Ich habe erst mal geschaut, was für ein Muster sich beim Mystic Ice Shawl entwickelt. Es gefällt mir bisher, und so habe ich mich auch angemeldet (dabei habe ich meinen Mystic Earth immer noch nicht fertig, bin jetzt aber bei Teil 3 angekommen). Ich bin mir aber noch unschlüssig, welche Wolle ich für das Tuch nehme. Erst hatte ich eine Wolle in einem sehr dunklen Türkis, fast schon Petrol im Auge, doch gestern kam hier die Lieferung von Wollknoll mit dieser Wolle an

Und dann wollte Pontus unbedingt mit aufs Foto von dem fertigen Teppich

Die Fransen sind jetzt kurz und geknotet, am Rand habe ich noch einen doppelten Ryawollfaden eingezogen.

I first waited until I could see a bit ot the pattern of the Mystic Ice Shawl. It looks nice so far, so I joined the KAL (though I haven’t finished my Mystic Earth Shawl yet, but I got to part 3 now).  I still don’t know which wool to take for the Mystic Ice shawl, I first thought about a dark turquoise, but I got some nice roving yesterday which would be a good choice as well. And of course Pontus wanted to be on the photo with the finshed carpet.

Ryaschaf-Teppich – Carpet with ryawool

Noch habe ich nicht die Ruhe gefunden, mit dem Webstuhl anzufangen. Außerdem war noch eine Kette für einen Teppich auf dem Webrahmen, da habe ich nun endlich weiter gemacht:

Noch sind die Fransen nicht ordentlich verarbeitet, vielleicht flechte ich einfach Zöpfchen. Für das Foto musste ich den Katzen den Teppich „entreißen“, der wurde nämlich annektiert, sobald er auf dem Boden zum „probeliegen“ lag. Mal sehen, wann die Katzen es mir erlauben, die Fransen fertig zu machen und die Fadenenden zu vernähen. Die graue Wolle ist selbstgesponnene Ryaschafwolle und die Türkisfarbene Webwolle aus einem Second-Hand-Laden in Schweden/Karlstad.

I haven’t found enough time to occupy myself with the loom for a whole day, hopefully around Christmas. But I still had some warp on my weaving frame, so I finshed the weaving on a carpet. The fringes still need to be worked on, maybe I will make braids. For taking the photo I had to „steal“ the carpet from our cats. They took possession of it as soon as I put it on the floor for testing purposes. So I will have to see when the cats will give me the permission to work on the fringes and to weave in ends. The grey wool is selfspun rya wool and the turqoise is wool for weaving from a second hand shop in Karlstad/Sweden.
