Frühlingsfarben – Colours of spring

Letzthin habe ich eine wunderbare Wolle-Seiden-Mischung gesponnen. Leider bildet die Kamera die Farben nicht so gut ab. Der tatsächliche Farbton sieht etwa so aus

Aber der tatsächliche Farbton ist eben dunkler und „froschiger“.

Lately I spun a wonderful wool-silk-blend. Unfortunately my camera is unable to show the real colours. The shade looks nearly as in th first photo. I started knitting a cardigan, using this pattern from Drops . The colour looks a bit more „froggy“.

Und dann habe ich mal wieder ein bisschen von der Lieblingswolle der Katzen gesponnen: Gotlandwolle, fast 500 g.

Die Wolle hatte ich als Rohwolle von Marianne gekauft.Es ist zwar einiges an Arbeit, Gotlandwolle zu waschen und zu kardieren, aber es lohnt sich. Marianne verkauft nur ausgesuchte Wolle, und diese ist viel weicher und fluffiger als das Kardenband, das man fertig kaufen kann.

I also spun some 500 grams Gotland wool, which is the cats’ favourite wool. I bought it as raw wool from Marianne and washed and carded it myself. Thats is quite a bit of work, but it is worth it. Marianne only sells high quality wool, and it is much softer and fluffier than the roving you can buy.

100000 – 10000

Toll, heute geht der Zähler auf 100.000 Besucher.

Am 16. Oktober 2007, also vor etwa 1 1/2 Jahren, ist mein Blog auf WordPress.com umgezogen. Damals hätte ich nicht gedacht, dass ich so viele Besucher bekommen werde. Vielen Dank für Euren Besuch.

10.000: Am 11. April hatte unsere Photovoltaikanlage ihren ersten Geburtstag. Eine Woche zuvor überschritt der Ertrag die 10.000 Kilowattstunden- Grenze. Am Geburtstag lag der Ertrag bei 10.350,1 Kilowattstunden. Damit lag der spezifische Ertrag bei 921 kWh/kWp. In unserer Gegend mit dieser Ausrichtung (Süd – 10 Grad), mit 28 Grad Dachneigung und mit den Verschattungen im Winter lag das Soll bei 810 kWh/kWp oder 9116 Kilowattstunden. Somit hat die Anlage das Soll um mehr als 13,5 % überschritten. Wir sind sehr zufrieden. Mein Traum war, dass wir die 10.000-kWh-Marke überschreiten, auch wenn das eigentlich unrealistisch war, aber wir haben es geschafft

10,000: On April 11th our photovoltaics plant had its first anniversary. One week before it passed the 10,000 kilowatthours-line. The production at the birthday was 10,350.1 kWh. So the specific production per kWp was 921. In our area the average target is 810 kWh/kWp (9116 kWh), regarding the fact that the roof is turned 10 degrees to the east and has an inclination of 28 degrees, plus quite a bit of shadows on it in the winter. So it produce more than 13.5 % over its target. We are very pleased with that. My dream was to pass the 10,000-kWh-line, though that dream was quite unrealistic, but we made it

Emsland: Umbegung – surrounding area

Die Städte an der Ems sind recht alt, viele sind im ersten Jahrtausend entstanden. Westlich der Ems erhebt sich der Hümmling (na ja, so hoch ist er auch nicht). Da er über den Mooren lag, siedelten hier schon vor vielen tausend Jahren Menschen. Die ältesten Zeugnisse sind etwa 7000 Jahre alt. Nicht ganz so alt, „erst“ zwischen 2300 und 2000 vor Christus entstanden ist dieses Hünengrab „Klöbertannen“

Man muss sich wundern, dass in der langen Zeit noch immer der Eingang zu erkennen ist. Bei dem sandigen Boden hätte man gedacht, dass mittlerweile alles eingesunken ist.

The towns along the river Ems are pretty old, most of them started their existence in the first millenium. West of the Ems is a mountainous area, the Hümmling (not really mountains compared to my home area). As it was well above the marshland, humans settled here ages ago. The first evidences of this are about 7000 years old. Not quite tat old, but build around 2300 to 2000 b.c. is this megalithic tomb. it is surprising that the entrance is still clear to be seen after that long time. I thought the stone would have sunk deeper on that sandy ground.

Am Dollart liegt der alte Fischerort Ditzum.

Hier ist die Ems schon recht breit und eingedeicht, auf den vorgelagerten Wiesen rasten Gänse

At the Dollart is an old fisher’s town called Ditzum. The Ems is already pretty wide here and flwoing between dikes. Wild geese are taking a break on the meadows close to the river.

Zur Gemeinde Vlagtwedde gehört die Festung Bourtange. In den letzten Jahrzehten wieder aufgebaut, ist sie absolut einen Besuch wert

Die Toilette ist natürlich über dem Graben, wie für solche Festungen üblich. Das war ein zusätzliches Hindernis für Angreifer, durch die Fäkalien zur Festung zu gelangen.

Fort Bourtange close to Vlagtwedde was rebuilt in the last decades and is absolutely worth visiting.

The toilet was well above the ditch, forming a further obstacle for invaders to get to the fort through the faeces.

Emsland: Sonnenuntergänge – Sunsets

Unsere neue zweite Heimat liegt also nun im Emsland. Die Ferienanlage gehört zu dem kleinen Ort Kluse-Steinbild in der Samtgemeinde Dörpen.

Sonnenuntergänge reizen immer wieder dazu, die Kamera zu benutzen. Unser Ferienhäuschen ist nahe an der Ems aber weit genug weg, um kein Hochwasser abzubekommen. Wir haben keinen Blick auf die Ems, können aber die Motoren hören, wenn ein Frachtschiff vorbeifährt. Die Ems liegt westlich von uns, so gibt es abend immer wieder schöne Sonnenuntergänge zu sehen. Der Fluss ist in dieser Region etwa 50 Meter breit.

Our second home is in Emsland now, in a holiday camp in Kluse-Steinbild belonging to the little town Dörpen.

Sunsets always tease to use a camera. Our little cottage is near the river Ems in Northwest Germany, not right at the banks of the river just far enough away in order not to get into trouble with floodings. We cannot see the river from our cottage, but we can hear the diesel engines of the few barges passing by. The river is to the west from our place, so there are often beautiful sunsets. In this area, the river is about 50 metres wide.

Wollige Ferien – wooly holidays

Wir haben uns soweit recht gur erholt, das war aber auch sehr nötig. Und ich habe mir viel Zeit für die Wollbearbeitung genommen. Außerdem kommt man ja in einem Urlaub nicht drum herum, irgendwo Wolle zu kaufen. Immerhin habe ich mich auf Sonderangebote beschränkt.

We managed to relax quite well during our holidays, but that was asbolutely necessary. I took a lot of time for working with wool. And of course you cannot go on holidays without buying wool. At least I managed only to buy bargains.

Mein Springshowershawl ist weiter gewachsen

My springshowershawl grew a bit.

Und ich habe endlich mal wieder ein Paar Socken gestrickt aus einer wunderschönen Wolle, die Barbro selber gefärbt hat und mir letzten Sommer geschenkt hat.

And I knitted a pair of socks for a wonderful wool that Barbro dyed and she gave it to me last summer.

Diese Wolle habe ich vor dem Urlaub gesponnen, ca. 1500 m. Es ist blauer und grüner „Hermann“ mit grauer Wittener Milchschafwolle verzwirnt

I finished spinning this wool before the holiday, about 1500 metres. It is blue and green „Hermann“ roving plied with Wittener Milksheep wool.

Im Urlaub hatte ich das Ashford Joy mit, und ich habe fleißig gesponnen

The Ashford Joy was on holiday with me, and I spun some wool (from left): 100 grams merino/silk blend 390 metres; 100 grams merino/angora blend 300 metres; 200 grams merino roving in yellow and green 420 meters; a remainder Wittener Milksheep wool 420 metres.
Ich muss erst mal meine Fotos bearbeiten, dann gibt es auch etwas von der Landschaft im Ensland zu sehen.

Wieder da – I am back

Wir sind wieder zu Hause. Allerdings gibt es Fotos etc. erst zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt. Mein Computer läuft nicht mehr, eine Virensuche, die der Freund meiner Tochter auf meinem Rechner durchgeführt hat, ist wohl gründlich fehl geschlagen. Ich melde mich also erst wieder „richtig“, wenn mein Rechner wieder läuft.

We are back home. Unfortunately I cannot show photos right now, my computer rcrashed completely and doesn’t want to run any more. My daughter’s BF did a virus hunt on my computer, which seems to have failed completely. So I will be back when my computer runs proper again.

Spring Shower Shawl

Der Anfang am Spring Shower Shawl ist gemacht. Mir gefällt das Muster sehr gut

Heute morgen sind mal wieder ein paar Handysocken auf die Reise gegangen

Hier im Blog ist erst mal Pause. Morgen fahren wir in unsere Hütte  ins Emsland, wahrscheinlich bis nach Ostern. Die Katzen werden von unserer Tochter versorgt, und sie werden gut aufs Haus aufpassen.

The beginning of the Spring Shower Shawl is done. I like the pattern a lot.

This morning some more mobile socks started their joruney to the Netherlands.

There will be a break in this blog for a while. Tomorrow we will go to our cottage in Emsland, hopefully until after Easter. Our daughter will care for the cats, and the cats will watch the house.
