Lion’s Lace Shawl

Here is another free pattern, Lion’s Lace Shawl. It can be knitted in any size you like, there is a 12-row-repeat.

I like tiny patterns with a few yarnovers that are easy to keep in mind. You wont really need the instructions after a while, it just knits by itsself.

Unfortunately we had no nice weather so far to take a nicer photo.

The peaks in chart 2 have a repeat of 6 stitches in  the first row.  Start with the second stitch from the right, the yo.

Lion’s Lace Shawl & Neckwarmer

Der Lion’s Lace Shawl ist fertig, aber die Anleitung ist noch nicht geschrieben. Außerdem spielt das Wetter bei den Fotos nicht mit.

Material: selbstgefärbte selbstgesponnene Bluefaced Leicester Wolle, 75 g und 410 m (also 550 m/100g)

Größe: 190 x 95 cm, Nadelstärke 5 mm

The Lion’s Lace Shawl is finished, but I didn’t write the pattern yet. And the bad weather doesn’t help taking nice photos.

Material: selfdyed selfspun BFL wool, 75 grams and 410 m (550 m/100g)

Das Halstuch/Neckwarmer aus einem Sockenwollrest von 34 g habe ich auch nochmal gespannt und fotografiert. Größe 100 x 50 cm, Nadelstärke 6 mm

I blocked the neckwarmer from 34 grams sockwool again and took some mor photos. The size is 100 x 50 cm, needles 6 mm

Spinnereien – Some Spinning

Die 500 g bunte Wolle  sind fertig gesponnen und leicht angefilzt. Die 500 g haben 1500 m Lauflänge.

The 500 grams of rainbow dye are spun and have 1500 metres, and I felted them slightly. The second photo shows the felting and the changing colours.

Claudi hat mir beim Spinntreffen als Weihnachtsgeschenk neben einer Schafstasse und Maschenmarkern 100 g selbstgefärbte weiche Eiderschafwolle, die ich natürlich sofort verspinnen musste (260 m Lauflänge).

Claudi gave me a sheep cup, markers and 100 grams selfdyed soft roving, which I had to spin immediately (260 metres).

A bit of nice wool for spinning from Marianne, spun to a 2-ply yarn, consistsing of wool and mohair.

And the lion made from bronze behind our town hall in Wuppertal-Elberfeld doesn’t mind to be a model, so it named the scarf to “Lion’s Scarf”

Wollige Weihnachten Wolly Christmas

Was wäre Weihnachten ohne Wolle? Am Heiligabend musste ich mich sogar richtig ranhalten mit den Spinnen. Ich hatte mir nämlich vorgenommen, die bunte Wolle erst anzuspinnen, wenn ein Projekt von den Spulen ist. Das war dann Wolle für ein Wikingerprojekt, welches weiß ich noch nicht genau aber die Wolle passt dazu. 1700 m Wolle zweifädig sind dabei rausgekommen, Die wolle ist Ryaschaf x Finullschaf aus Schweden aus dieser Schafherde.

What would Christmas be without wool? On Christmas Eve I really had to increase speed with spinning, because I wanted to start with a multicoloured wool. But I had promised myself to finishe another spinning project first. That was the wool for some Viking Knits project, I still have to choose which one fits most to this wool. 1700 metres of 2-ply wool from Swedish crossbreed sheep, Rya x Finull# from this flock of sheep.

Hier ist nun der erste Strang Weihnachtswolle. Im Onlinekatalog sieht die Wolle viel pastelliger aus und die versponnene Wolle kommt dann dem Foto im Katalog näher als der tatsächlich Kammzug.

Here is the first strand of Christmas wool. The colours of the wool look much less bright in the online catalogue, the spun wool resembles the wool in the catalogue more than the tops do.

Bunte Weihnachtswolle – Colourful Christmas Wool

Ich habe von meinem Mann wunderschöne Weihnachtswolle bekommen. Ja, ich habe mir die Wolle ausgesucht, im Winter mag ich bunte Farben, das erinnert so an Sommer. Ich habe ja eigentlich wirklich genug Wolle, aber diese feinen Sachen habe ich denn doch noch zu Weihnachten bekommen.

My husband gave me this wonderful Christmas wool. Well, I chose this wool, I love coloourful wool in winter time, it reminds me of summer. Sure I have really enough wool, but still I got these delicious wools as a Christmas gift.

Frohe Weihnachten – Merry Christmas

Ich wünsche allen meinen Leserinnen und Lesern ein frohes und geruhsames Weihnachtsfest.

Nein, so viel Schnee haben wir im Moment zum Glück nicht, aber 10 cm sind es doch noch.

I wish a merry Christmas to all my readers. No, we don’t have those amounts of snow now, just about 4 inches left.

Schnee & Kälte – Snow and Cold

Eigentlich sieht die Gartenbank mit Schnee ja idyllisch aus.

In some way, the garden bench with snow atop looks idyllically.

Aber wenn man sich dann die Rhododendronblätter anschaut, wird es klar, dass es extrem kalt ist. Heute morgen waren es -15,5°C, im Tal war es sogar -16,5°C. Diese Blätter  versuchen nun, sich gegen eien Tagestemperatur von -12,5 °C im Schatten zu schützen.

But when you look at the Rhododendron leaves it is evident that it is extremely cold. This morning we had -15.5 °C, in the valley it was even colder, -16.5°C. The leaves are trying to protect against the still real cold temperature during daytime, -12.5°C in the shadow.

In der letzten Woche habe ich ein bisschen Wolle fertiggesponnen, zwei Stränge feinen Kammzug. 270 Gramm und 920 m. Die Wolle ist ziemlich weiß, aber im Vergleich zum Schnee sieht sie eher cremefarben aus.

Last week I finished spinning two strands of “fine tops”, 270 grams and 920 metres. The wool is pretty white, but it looks rather creme coloured compared to the snow.
