Kreuzspinne – Cross Spider

Kreuzspinnen hielt ich früher immer für selten. Deshalb wundert es mich, dass ich immer wieder welche in unserem Garten finde. Es scheint ihnen hier zu gefallen.

Außerdem ist es spannend, mit einer Makroeinstellung zu fotografieren. Dann kann man Dinge sehen, die das menschliche Auge in ihrer Feinheit so nicht wahrnehmen kann. Die Spinne hält sich mit drei Beinen fest und die anderen fünf Beine beschäftigen sich mit der Beute.

I used to think that cross spiders are rare. Therefore I am amazed to find them in my garden from time to time. They seem to like it here.

It is thrilling as well to take macro photos. Then you can see fine structures which the human eye is not capable to see. The spider is holding itsself with three legs and working on the prey with five.

Mohairschal – mohair scarf

Die Ereignisse der letzten fünfzehn Monate, so lange ist mein Mann nun schon krank,  rauben mir manchmal die Energie. Es fällt mir schwer, ein Strickstück zu Ende zu bringen, aber das Spinnrad schnurrt dafür um so öfter. Das verhilft mehr zu innerer Ruhe. Nun habe ich es endlich mal wieder fertig gebracht, ein Projekt zu vollenden, und das sogar in realtiv kurzer Zeit.

The things that happened in the last fifteen months (my husband is already ill that long) sometimes destroy my energy. It is hard for my to finish a piece I am knitting, while the spinning wheel is rather busy all the time.  It makes me calm down more inside. But now I managed to finish a project, even in a short time.

Ich habe vor weniger als drei Wochen diese Wollmischung mit Mohair von Marianne gekauft/ I bought this wool blend from Marianne less han three weeks ago

und gesponnen, es sind 105 gramm und 310 m / and spun it, the strand weighs 105 grams and the wool is 310 m long

Vorgestern ist dieser Schal fertig geworden. Größe 220 x 30 cm. Das kleine Lochmuster habe ich in einem alten Burda Musterheft gefunden, der Rest ist ein eigener Entwurf / two days ago I finished the scarf , size 220 x 30 cm. I found the small lace pattern in an old Burda pattern magazine, the designing of the scarf itsself is my own pattern.

Heute waren wir „in der Stadt“ (Wuppertal-Elberfeld). Das sagt man hier so auf dem Lande weit außerhalb der Stadt. Der Löwe hinter dem Elberfelder Rathaus wollte auch mal den Schal testen.

Today we „went to town“(Wuppertal-Elberfeld). That’s what we say here in the countryside outside town. The lion behind the Elberfeld city hall wanted to test my new scarf.

Merlin hatte Anfang der Woche ein schönes neues Schlafplätzchen gefunden. Ich habe das kardierte Vlies Finnschaf (finull) x Ryaschaf mal wieder rausgeholt und fertig gesponnen. Die Wolle ist sehr weich, das gefiel Merlin. Heute habe ich allerdings den letzten Rest der Wolle aufgesponnen, nun muss ich sie noch haspeln und baden.

Merlin found a nce place for sleeping in the begining of the week. I worked on the carded fleece innsheep (finull) x Ryasheep again. The woll is very soft, which Merlin liked a lot. Bad luck for him,I spun the last bit of it today. Now it still needs to be on a strand and relax in a nice bath.

Neue Digitalkamera – New Digital Camera

Meine alte Digitalkamera, die ich vor 4 Jahren gekauft habe,  ist schon recht gut, obwohl sie nur 4 Millionen Pixel hat. Das Entscheidende ist die Optik, und die ist von Leica. Es ist eine Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ10. Der Nachteil ist, dass diese doch recht schwer ist. Deshalb habe ich mich nach einer kleinen Zweitkamera umgeschaut. Hier eines der ersten Fotos mit der alten Kamera

My old digital camera isn’t bad, though it has only 4 millions pixel. Most importans for cams are good optics, and that is from Leica. It is a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ10. The disadvantage is that this cam is pretty heavy. This is why I looked for a small „second cam“. Here is one of the early photos I took with the old cam.

Kater – Cats

Mein Webzimmer nimmt langsam Gestalt an. Ich räume zwar immer noch von einer Ecke in die andere, aber neben dem Webstuhl – der neue Louet Hollandia ist wesentlich kleiner als der Glimakra – haben jetzt auch Nähmaschine, Kardiermaschine und Strickmaschine Platz. Die Strickmaschine ist bei Pontus (links) und Merlin (rechts) sehr beliebt, sie scheinen dem Wort „NadelBETT“ weine ganz neue Bedeutung geben zu wollen

Pontus wohnt schon 12 Jahre bei uns, wir haben ihn fast verhungert auf einer Elchtour in Schweden gefunden. Merlin ist auch schon fast 6 Jahre bei uns, aber noch nie haben die beiden Kater so lange nahe beieinander geschlafen. Ich wusste gar nicht, dass Strickmaschinen so beruhigend auf Katzen wirken.

Derweil ist Lasse auf meinem Computerstuhl in Tiefschlaf.

My weaving room gets to its final look slowly. I still put things from one corner into another, but after the Glimakra left me, the smaller Louet Holandia loom offers much more space. Enough for the sewing machine, the carding machine and the knitting machine. Pontus (left) and Merlin (right) seem to like the kntting machine and give a new meaning to the word „needle bed“. They never slept that close together in almost six years now. At the same time, Lasse uses my computer chair to be in a real deep sleep.

Wollkatzen – Wool Cats

Es ist schon, wenn man mit seinen Haustieren ein gemeinsames Hobby teilt: Wolle!!!

Und ich kann das auch beweisen, dass unsere Kater mein Hobby auch ganz toll finden. Tinka löst Teile ihres Onlineshops auf, und ich konnte günstig meine Bestände an Evilla und Evilla Vorgarn aufstocken. Auch wenn es noch eineinhalb Monate bis zu meinem Geburtstag dauert, hat mein Mann so ein schönes Geburtstagsgeschenk für mich.  Als ich diese Wolle fotografieren wollte, bekam ich Besuch von Pontus und Merlin. Und sie sind beide gute Wolltester. Das sie die Wolle für gut befunden haben, kann man hier sehen.

It is nice if you share a hobby with your pets: wool!!!

And I can proof that our cats really love my hobby. Tinka closes part of her online shop and she made me a good offer for Evilla and Evilla preyarn. Thugh it is still 1 1/2 months until my birthday, my hubby already has a wonderful birthday present for me. When I wanted to take photos of the wool, I had two visitors:  Pontus and Merlin. and they are excellent wool testers. As you can see on the photos, their testing results were good.

Es ist immer noch eisig kalt draußen und es liegt noch eine Menge Schnee. Nachts war die kälteste Temperatur in der letzten Woche minus 17,5 ° Celsius, die wärmste Nacht war minus 12 ° Celsius.

aber seine Ausflüge werden bei dieser Kälte kürzer.

In der letzten Woche habe ich Chemocaps gestrickt. Im Spinnradforum musste sich eine Neuspinnerin leider einer Operation mit nun  anschließender Chemo unterziehen, und so auf die Schnelle ist es für sie dann nicht so leicht, etwas zu stricken.

Die linke aus selbstgesponnener Uru Roving ist ein Modell von Cheryl Oberle aus dem Buch 101 Designer One-Skein Wonders , die rechte aus selbstgesponnener Ombria von der Wollfabrik Huppertz, eigener Entwurf.

Dann brauchte ich noch neue Pulswärmer

It is still very cold in our area, the coldest night was minus 17.5 °C, the warmest minus 12°C. Cat Lasse still likes the snow, but his outside tours get shorter due to the temperatures.

Last week I knitted two chemocaps. One new member of the spinning wheel forum had a cancer diagnose, was operated this week and will have a chemo afterwards. So  she is busy, that is why I knitted her two caps. The left is Selfspun Uru roving, a design by Cheryl Oberle from the book 101 Designer One-Skein Wonders , the right is from selfspun Ombria wool, my own desgin.

I still needed some ristwarmers, so I knitted a pair from selspun Schoppel pencilroving (my own desgin).

Socken & Spinnen – socks & spiders

Das erste paar Angora-Alpaka-Socken ist fertig. Nun muss ich mich mit dem Stricken ranhalten, denn meine Mutter hat am Donnerstag ihren 87. Geburtstag. Das nächste Paar wird grau mit creme.

Dann brauchte ich noch gestern etwas zur Beruhigung, also habe ich noch Space versponnen:

 The first pair of angora-alpaca-socks is knitted, but I have to hurry a bit with the second, because it is my mother’s birthday on Thursday. And then I needed something to relax, so I spun some Space.

 

Und dann ist da noch die Geschichte von der Spinnenmama, die auf ihre Kinder aupasst. Eine Schüssel, Reste von Erdbeeren mit Zucker waren, stand vorübergehend auf der Spülmaschine. Als ich sie in die Spülmaschine räumen wollte, war sie bewohnt. Also ließ ich die Spinne  (Körperlänge ca. 5 mm) erst mal in Ruhe.

Und siehe da, es hat sich gelohnt. Die Spinennmama passt auf ihre Spinnenkinder auf und wenn die zu faul sind, lassen sie sich von Mama tragen.

And then there is this story of the little spider mama. A bowl with the remainders of strawberries and sugar was standing on the dishwasher, and I wanted to put it inside. But by then there was a lodger already, a small spider, length of the body about 5 mm. And it was a good idea to leave the spider alone. As magnifying by digital photography shows, she is a caring mom, guarding her little spider kids. And as they are lazy sometimes, they love to be carried around by her.

Katzenkorb – Cat Basket

Was mag wohl aus diesem unförmigen Ding aus selbstgesponnener Gotlandwolle werden?

Noch sieht es ja ziemlich nutzlos aus, aber nachdem es in der Waschmaschine war, kann man erkennen, was das werden sollte und auch geworden ist, Merlin führt das mal vor:

Was für ein Glück, dass Pontus lieber unter der Gartenliege liegt:

 

What might become of this formless thing made of handspun Gotland wool? After it was in the washing machine, it has a better shape and Merlin shows what it was made for. Lucky him, Pontus prefers to sleep under the sunbed.

Mystic Waters No. 2 – gespannt/blocked

Nun ist das Tuch Mystic Waters gespannt, aber die heutige Form des Wassers, die vom Himmel fällt, immerhin 15 cm in 6 Stunden, macht das Foto kontrastarm:

Außerdem ist es windig, ich musste eine Wäscheklammer unten an das Tuch hängen, damit es nicht ständig waagerecht „hängt“.  Bei dem Fliegengewicht – 136 Gramm – weht es leicht weg. Die Größe ist ca. 130 x 260 cm, gestrickt mit Addi Lace 3,5 mm.

Der Schnee macht den Katzen Spaß:

Zugegeben, dieses Foto ist seltsam. Aber man kann erkennen, dass die Katzen nicht schnurstracks auf ein Ziel zugelaufen sind, sondern erst mal rumgesprungen sind.

The Mystic Waters Shawl is blocked now, but one state of water caused that the contrast of the photo is rather poor due to the 15 cm of snow that fell after 3 in the morning. I also hat to put a peg ob the shawl because of the wind, otherwise the shawl tend to get into a horizontal position. It is very light, only 136 grams, the size is approx. 130 x 260 cm, kntted with 3.5 mm Addi Lace needles.

The cats think that snow is fun, which you can see on this strange photo. Instead of gogin straight to where they were heading too, they jumped around and left strange patterns in the snow.

Mystic Waters gespannt – blocked

Gestern spielte das Wetter gar nicht mit, heute nun endlich ein Foto vom gespannten Mystic Waters Tuch:

Es ist wirklich extrem kuschelig, das konnte ich gestern schon testen. Und gestern war wirklich so ein Tag, an dem ich besser gar nicht erst aufgestanden wäre. Katastrophe in der Autowerkstatt, deshalb mal eben noch 100 Euro mehr, endlich irgendwie das eigentlich tolle Auto über den TÜV bekommen, die Aktion kostete mit TÜV-Gebühren insgesamt 850 Euro. Dann kam abends mein Wolltester-Kater Merlin verletzt nach Hause, heute morgen ging es zum Tierarzt. Ein angreifendes Tier hat ihn in die Kehle gebissen, ein Stück daneben und er wäre tot. Nun können wir nur hoffen, dass sich nicht entzündet, sonst schwillt die Luftröhre zu. Ich bin innerlich so aufgewühlt, dass nicht einmal das Spinnrad helfen würde.

Finally the weather is good enought to take a photo of the blocked Mystic Waters shawl. There are days when you should never get out of bed, yesterday was one of them. It started in th garage, something else broke on th car just when I was there which cost some additional 100 Euros, so the final sum to pass the MOT test was 850 Euros, and the Volvo V40 is not a bad car. Then my wooltester cat Merlin came home severly injured, as he was bitten right next to the throat. The vet gave some pain killer and antibiotics injection today. If he had been just a few millimetres beside the wounds, he would have been dead. Now we have to watch him carefully, if the swelling gets more he wont be able to breathe any more. I feel sooo exhausted…
