Färben – Dyeing

Nach wie vor spinne ich mehr, als ich verstricke. Und dann musste ich auch mal wieder zu meinen Ashfordfarben greifen.

Links ca. 182 g und 1000 m sehr hell graue Wittener Milchschafwolle, mit Ashford „teal“ plus einem Tick gelb überfärbt. Interessanterweise müsste diese wolle dann viel „türkiser“ sein als die rechte, weißes Bluefaced Leicester mit „teal“ gefärbt (210 g und 1150 m). Aber das Färben von grauer Wolle bleibt immer ein Abenteuer, was es so reizvoll macht.

I still do more spinning than knitting, plus a little bit of dyeing last week. The wool to the left (Milksheep wool, 182 grams and 1000 metres) was a very light grey originally, dyed with Ashford „teal“ plus a hint of yellow. The wool to the right, originally white Bluefaced Leicester (210 grams and 1150 m),  is dyed with pure „teal“, so it should be less turqouise than the left wool. But it is always thrilling to dye grey wool, you never know what colour you will see in the end.

Außerdem spinne ich nach und nach „Pünktchen-Wolle„

Pünktchen ist ein ganz besonderes Schaf. Sie glaubt nämlich nicht wirklich, ein Schaf zu sein, und hält sich eher für einen Menschen. So ist sie denn ein Menschenflüsterer-Schaf, wie man hier auf dem Foto mit ihrer Besitzerin Astrid sehen kann.

From time to time I spin a bit of Pünktchen-wool. Pünktchen is a very special sheep. She doesn’t really believe that she is a sheep, she rather thinks of herself as being human. So she is a humans whisperer sheep, as you can see on this photo, together with her owner Astrid.

Und ich habe es tatsächlich geschafft, noch ein paar Socken fertig zu stricken. Die Wolle ist selbstgefärbte wolle von Barbro .

And I finally made it to knit another pair of socks. The wool is selfdyed wool from Barbro.

Schafe -Sheep

Am langen Wochenende waren wir mal wieder im Emsland. Die Gastherme musste erneuert werden, und wir konnten das warme sonnige Wetter genießen.

Außerdem haben wir zum zweiten Mal Susanne besucht, sie hat nämlich Schafe, die besonders schmusebedürftig sind.  Und wir haben Susanne gerne beim Schafe knuddeln geholfen

We spent the last long weekend in Emsland again. The heating device needed to be renewed. We also enjoyed the warm sunny weather.

Furthermore we visited Susanne for the second time. She has sheep that absolutely like to be cuddled. So we helped her in her job to cuddle the sheep.

Lizzy, das CIA- Lamm (trinkt nur heimlich, wenn keiner schaut), sieht hier riesig aus, ist aber noch nicht mal kniehoch und wog bei der Geburt nur 900 Gramm.

und danach wird ausgiebig gekuschelt.

Superwash Lacegarn/laceyarn

Ich habe den Superwash-Kammzug 27,4 Micron 92 mm Stapellänge von Tinka ausprobiert. Einfach traaaaauuuuumhaft zu spinnen. Eigentlich wollte ich ja nur in Ausnahmefällen Lacegarn selber spinnen, aber diese Fasern sind nun der Hammer. Sie fühlen sich viel weicher an als 27,4 micron. Es passten bei dem Ashford Joy 157 Gramm!!!! auf die Spule, weil ich zur Festigkeit mit viel Drall gesponnen habe. Dennoch sind es 888 m bei 157 Gramm, was ca. 566 m auf 100 g entspricht. Dieser Kammzug kann süchtig machen. Bewacht wird die Wolle von meinem neuesten „Jolly Mäh“ von Nici aus einem Sonderverkauf im Remscheider Alleecenter. Ich finde Jolly Mäh als Schwarzkopfschaf einfach süß. Gebettet ist beides auf Romanov-Vlies.

I tested the roving bought at Tinka’s Onlineshop, 27.4 micron and 92 mm staple. The wool feels much softer than 27.4 micron and spins almost by itsself. It is just amaaaaazing!!!! I spun 157 grams on one Ashford Joy bobbin, which normally only takes 100 grams. 157 grams have 888 m length, which is approx. 566 m per 100 g. I really wasn’t keen on spinning laceyarn myself, but this roving changes my plans completely, it is very addictive. It is guarded by a new „Jolly Mäh“ by Nici which I bought at a special sale in a nearby shopping centre. They both are situated on a Romanov-fleece.

 Ich habe das Tuch Spring Shawl Surprice angefangen. Ich habe mich für eine pastellgelbe Merinowolle superwash  entschieden, die ich vor Jahren über Ebay erstanden habe, fünffädig mit 210 m Lauflänge auf 50 g, Nadelstärke 4 mm.

 

Ich habe mir erst mal die fertigen ersten Teile anderer angeschaut, bevor ich angefangen habe.

 I started to knit the Spring Shawl Surprice with a pastel yellow Merino wool superwash that I bought via Ebay a few years ago. It is 5-ply and 210 m per 50 grams, needles 4 mm. I waited staring the project until I saw some finished first clues.

Wooly weekend/ Wolliges Wochenende

Meine Knitalongs kommen im Moment etwas langsam voran. Am Samstag war nämlich Spinntreffen bei Astrid, und es war superschön. Astrid hat bunte Schafe, etwas ganz besonderes:

Ich habe dann auch zu Hause weiter gesponnen, Ombria mit hellgrünem Merino Kammzug verzwirnt:

Ich finde, die Farben passen zur Jahreszeit. Ich muss noch einmal so viel spinnen, und dann wird draus eine Winterjacke im Weste-Glava-Stil. Von der Weste Glava gibt es jetzt ein Tageslicht( aber kein Sonnenlicht)-Foto:

I didn’t do a lot of  knitting this weekend. We had a spinning meeting on Saturday. We visited Astrid, who is a sheep owner of a flock of multicoloured sheep. Here are some more photos of her sheep, beyond the pillow pic. I went on spinnning at home, you can see the result on the photo. I will do some more spinning, and it will become a winter cardigan in the vest Glava style. And the third photo is vest Glava in daylight, but without sunlight.
