Web-UFO – Weaving UFO

Dieses Foto ist fast ein Jahr alt. Ich hatte vor zwei Jahren Webkanten bei der Klässbol Linneväveri gekauft. Vor fast einem Jahr habe ich einen Teppich daraus „gewebt“. Das Material ist sehr dick. Deshalb habe ich immer einen doppelten Faden durchgeschoben und dann an der linke Seite verknotet. Dadurch wurden die Ränder etwas unregelmäßig, da musste also noch etwas verändert werden.

This photo is almost a year old. Two years ago I bought weaving edges at Klässbol Linneväveri. Last year I „weaved“ a carpet with them. The material is so thick that I pushed through a double thread and fixed it with a knot on the left side. This caused slightly irregular edges that needed to be optimized.

Ich dachte erst daran, einen Zopf zu flechten und diesen rundum anzunähen.  Aber der Test heute zeigte, dass die Idee nicht ganz so gut war. Also habe ich vier Webkanten zmit der Hand zu einer Kordel verzwirnt und dann rundum angenäht, um einen sauberen Abschluss zu haben. Der Teppich ist aus reiner Baumwolle. Dadurch ist er ziemlich schwer.

First I thought of making a braid and sewing it all around the edges. But when I teste that today a braid didn’t seem a good idea, so I twisted four weaving edges to a cord and knitted it to all edges to have a nice edging. The carpet is made from pure cotton. That makes it pretty heavy.

Mystic Ice

Ich habe erst mal geschaut, was für ein Muster sich beim Mystic Ice Shawl entwickelt. Es gefällt mir bisher, und so habe ich mich auch angemeldet (dabei habe ich meinen Mystic Earth immer noch nicht fertig, bin jetzt aber bei Teil 3 angekommen). Ich bin mir aber noch unschlüssig, welche Wolle ich für das Tuch nehme. Erst hatte ich eine Wolle in einem sehr dunklen Türkis, fast schon Petrol im Auge, doch gestern kam hier die Lieferung von Wollknoll mit dieser Wolle an

Die Fransen sind jetzt kurz und geknotet, am Rand habe ich noch einen doppelten Ryawollfaden eingezogen.

I first waited until I could see a bit ot the pattern of the Mystic Ice Shawl. It looks nice so far, so I joined the KAL (though I haven’t finished my Mystic Earth Shawl yet, but I got to part 3 now).  I still don’t know which wool to take for the Mystic Ice shawl, I first thought about a dark turquoise, but I got some nice roving yesterday which would be a good choice as well. And of course Pontus wanted to be on the photo with the finshed carpet.

Ryaschaf-Teppich – Carpet with ryawool

Noch habe ich nicht die Ruhe gefunden, mit dem Webstuhl anzufangen. Außerdem war noch eine Kette für einen Teppich auf dem Webrahmen, da habe ich nun endlich weiter gemacht:

Noch sind die Fransen nicht ordentlich verarbeitet, vielleicht flechte ich einfach Zöpfchen. Für das Foto musste ich den Katzen den Teppich „entreißen“, der wurde nämlich annektiert, sobald er auf dem Boden zum „probeliegen“ lag. Mal sehen, wann die Katzen es mir erlauben, die Fransen fertig zu machen und die Fadenenden zu vernähen. Die graue Wolle ist selbstgesponnene Ryaschafwolle und die Türkisfarbene Webwolle aus einem Second-Hand-Laden in Schweden/Karlstad.

I haven’t found enough time to occupy myself with the loom for a whole day, hopefully around Christmas. But I still had some warp on my weaving frame, so I finshed the weaving on a carpet. The fringes still need to be worked on, maybe I will make braids. For taking the photo I had to „steal“ the carpet from our cats. They took possession of it as soon as I put it on the floor for testing purposes. So I will have to see when the cats will give me the permission to work on the fringes and to weave in ends. The grey wool is selfspun rya wool and the turqoise is wool for weaving from a second hand shop in Karlstad/Sweden.

Kein Klavier 2 – No piano 2

Leider war das mit dem Webstuhl doch nicht so einfach wie gedacht. Auf einmal sollte er doch nur mit bestimmtem Zubehör verkauft werden, und dann fast 40% teurer sein. Da war ein wenig der Freude dahin. Also habe ich umdisponiert und mich doch dazu entschlossen, den Raum ziemlich vollzupacken. Denn auf einer holländischen Internetseite war seit Monaten mal wieder ein wirklich interessanter webstuhl drin, und das gleich hinter der Grenze. Also haben wir heute ein riesiges 3D-Puzzle abgeholt und hier aufgestellt. Allerdings dauert es noch, bis ich loslegen kann, richtig weben zu lernen. Es gibt noch einiges zu erledigen.

It was not as easy to get a loom as I thought. After agreeing on the price and what wwent with it, I got a call that I had to take some equipment as well for an extra price of 40% plus, which I actually did not want. And then there was this classified ad on a Dutch website, showing this loom, the best one for me since months. I measured the room again and again, changed some plans about the room and we drove there and bought that huge 3D-puzzle today and put it up in the room. But I still got some errands to do before I can start to learn weaving.

Kein Klavier – No Piano

Ja, diese Überschrift klingt seltsam: Kein Klavier, kein Klavier. Wer kennt nicht den Sketch von Loriot, allerdings ohne „k“? Ich durchforste seit Wochen das Netz nach einem gebrauchten Webstuhl. Dann kommt die Überlegung dazwischen, ein altes Klavier zu verkaufen, weil hier niemand mehr darauf spielen kann und dieses Instrument einfach zu schön klingt, um nur zur Zierde rumzustehen. Also durchsuche ich Kleinanzeigen im Netz nach Preisen für gebrauchte Klavier der Jahrhundertwende (es ist traurig, welchen Preis die erzielen, aber Hauptsache, es kommt in gute Hände, falls wir jemanden dafür finden) und gebe aus Spaß auch mal „Webstuhl“ ein, und da ist er plötzlich: mein Traumwebstuhl.

Nachdem ich mir erst mal anlesen musste, was wohl für mich ein passender Webstuhl sein könnte.  kristallisierten sich diese Kriterien heraus: Hängelade, weniger als 150 cm Webbreite, damit er in den Raum passt, Kontermarsch, mindestens 8 Schäfte, keine Schnelllade. Und ja, ich muss das Weben erst mal lernen, aber da ich nicht ganz ungeschickt bin, wird mir das schon gelingen. Ende des Monats ist die derzeitige Besitzerin in der Nähe, dann bringt sie den Webstuhl sogar vorbei.

Es wird ein Glimåkra Standard Webstuhl, sowas wie dieser hier , mit 135 cm Webbreite.

No piano refers to a sketch that everybody in Germany knows, it would be hard to translate the playing with words. Since several weeks I am surfing the Web for info about looms, to find out which one would be perfect for me and what kind of loom I actually need. I came to the conclusion that it should be less than 150 cm width, so that it is not too huge for the room, countermarch, at least 10 shafts and a hanging beater. I surfed almost any used loom I could find via Google, but then I found one by chance when I was looking for the prices of old pianos from around 1900, because we have one for sale. Nobody here plays the piano any more, and the sound of the piano is so wonderful that it needs to be played. After searching for piano in an only classified ads site I also typed „loom“ and found this one, which is my dream-loom. It is a Glimåkra Standard like this one , 135 cm weaving width, ten shafts. Hte owner will bring it to me by the end of the month, because she will come to my area anyway. I am really looking forward to the loom.

Geheimnisse – Mysteries

Das erste Geheimnis: Noch läuft das Preisausschreiben, und hier ist ein Foto, was noch im Gewinnerpaket mit verreist / The first mystery: the contest is still running, and here is a photo what will be added to the parcel the winner will get

Nein, ich habe nicht verlernt, ordentliche Fotos zu machen. Aber wenn das Foto scharf gewesen wäre, hätte man auf der Tüte schon lesen können, was noch ins Paket kommt.

Das zweite Geheimnis: Im Forum Handarbeitsfrau soll ein Wintertuch-Mystery-KAL laufen. Das Tuch sollen Nadja und ich entwerfen. Mein Teil wird es überwiegend sein, die einzelnen Elemente des Tuchs zu entwerfen, Nadja kümmert sich um die Anleitung.

The second Mystery: A Wintershawl-Mystery-KAL is going to start in the Handarbeitsfrau-Forum in a while. Nadja and I shall make the design. My part is to create the single motifs, Nadja will write down the patterns in a computercompatible form.

Im Moment beschäftige ich mich außerdem mit Weben. Da ich noch nciht so viel Erfahrung damit habe, ist das nicht immer so einfach. Nach intensiven Bemühungen kam aber ein ordentlicher Kettfaden für den Webrahmen heraus

Der Kettfaden reicht aus für zwei Teppiche, und der erste entsteht gerade Stück für Stück

Hier verwebe ich Webkanten aus Klässbols Leinenweberei. Eigentlich sind sie Abfall von der Weberei mit computergesteuerten Webstühlen, aber mittlerweile versucht man auch in Klässbol, noch etwas damit anzufangen. Ich habe zum Glück letztes Jahr noch Webkanten bekommen. Die Webkanten sind so dick, dass man sie nicht „richtig“ verweben kann. Ich schiebe jeweils einen Doppelfaden durch und häkele den an den Außenseiten fest.

Here I am weaving cut edges of woven fabrics from Klässbols Linnenweaving. They are like rubbish from computerassisted looms, but today they try to make something form the rubbish in Klässbol as well. I was lucky to buy some of it last year. It is so thick that you cannot „really“ weave it: I push through a douoble thread and fix it on the sides by crocheting.

Und dann gibt es in diesem Haus noch Neuzugänge. Zum einen ist das Wolle über Ebay bzw. den Shop des Verkäufers. Hier ist allerfeinstes Kaschmir, Yakhaar und Babykamelhaar. Zusätzlich dazu Merino und Seide in königsblau und türkis. Und dann stand da noch dieses arme Steiffschaf auf einem Flohmarkt, aber das wollte viel lieber auf einer Wiese stehen

And there is something new again in this household. Some wool came to here via Ebay, plus some from the shop of the seller. Finest Cashmere, yak and babycamel plus merino and silk in blue and turquoise. And then there stood this poor Steiff-sheep on a fleamarket, but it wanted rather to stand on a lawn.

Der Teppich ist fast fertig, Größe ca. 70 x 150 cm:

Ich muss noch einige Fäden vernähen. Ich wollte die erst am Rand mitlaufen lassen, aber das wurde zu wulstig, vernähen ist besser. Den unteren und oberen Rand werde ich wohl noch umhäkeln, mit den Fransen überlege ich noch, aber eigentlich finde ich die paar Fisselsdinger optisch nicht schlecht. In Form ziehen muss natürlich auch noch sein, einige Bücher sprechen sogar von dämpfen. Aber da würde ich dann lieber nass machen und spannen.

Teppich Weben

Ich habe mit dem Stäbchenwebgerät rumprobiert und wollte darauf einen Teppich weben. Ich habe einiges rumprobiert, aber das Ergebnis gefiel mir nicht, also habe ich nach etwa 20 cm die Kettfäden in die Freiheit entlassen und neue Kettfäden auf den Ashford Webrahmen aufgezogen.

So gefällt mir das jetzt viel besser, und mit dem Webrahmen weben ist auch wesentlich gemütlicher. Man setzt sich bequem aufs Sofa und hakt die hinteren Aussparungen am Couchtisch ein und los gehts.

Die Wolle ist übrigens komplett selbstgesponnen.

Jetzt weiß ich auch endlich, warum ich „Brotklipse“ gesammelt habe: Die kann man zum Beispiel zum markieren verwenden, wieviele Reihen man schon gewebt hat. Oder man klipst die Kettfäden bündelweise zusammen. Dann kann man die nämlich gemütlich auf dem Sofa sitzend in den Kamm einfädeln und auf der anderen Seite erst mal wieder zusammenklipsen
