Ich kann es nicht lassen, Helens handgefärbte Kammzüge sind zu verführerisch. Und die Farben sind etwas intensiver als auf den Fotos im Shop. Aber vor allem hat die Wolle eine Qualität, die ich sonst nirgendwo gefunden habe. Weich, fluffig, voluminös, leicht zu spinnen. Wie kann ich da widerstehen?

I cannot stop myself from buying Helen’s handdyed rovings, they are just too tempting. The colours are more intensive that on the shop photos. But above all the wool has a quality which I have not found anywhere before. Soft, fluffy, lots of volume, easy to spin. So how can I resist?

Und dann arbeite ich an meiner neuesten Tuch-Kreation aus Ullcentrum Öland Wolle zweifädig.

I am working on my latest shawl design, knitted from Ullcentrum Öland wool 2-ply.

Die Wollen auf beiden Fotos sind etwas besonderes. Helen färbt mit selbstgemachten natürlichen Farben. Ann Linderhjelm hat Ende der 90iger angeefangen, Wolle auf Öland zu sammeln, die weggeschmissen werden sollte, und hat angefangen, daraus wunderschöne Spinnvliese und Strickwollen herzustellen. Auch sie hat ihre Farben entwickelt.

The wool on both photos is something special. Helen dyed her wool with selfmade natural dyes. Ann Linderhjelm started to collect wool on Öland that was supposed to be disposed of. She started to ake beautiful spinning wool and knitting yarn from that wool and also developed her own dyes.

Einmillionster Beuscher – One Millionth Visitor

Kaum zu glauben … aber nun habe ich tatsächlich den einmillionsten Besucher im Blog. Am 15. Oktober 2007 bin ich von myblog.de hierhin umgezogen. Vielen Dank, dass ihr vorbei schaut. Ich habe über ein Preisausschreiben nachgedacht, aber bei so vielen Besuchern wäre das wirklich schwierig. Und es gibt ja ständig etwas geschenkt, nämlich Strickanleitungen.

Ich habe auch über ein Foto von einem Feuerwerk nachgedacht, aber eigentlich finde ich Feuerwerke überflüssig, so lange es noch Menschen auf der Welt gibt, die hungern. Also zeige ich euch lieber einen Regenbogen in Form einer gestrickfilzten Tasche (ohne Anleitung). Ullcentrum Vorgarn 144 g, Nadelstärke 9 mm, Größe 32 x 36 cm.

Hard to believe … I relly have the one millionth visitor in my blog. On October 15th 2007 I moved my blog here from myblog.de. Thank you for visiting my blog. I thought about offering a prize, but that would be difficult with so many visitors. And there is always something you can get for free here, free patterns.

I thought about a photo of fireworks, but to be true I think fireworks are obsolete as long as there is still hunger in the world. So I am showing you a rainbow, shaped as a knitfelted bag (non pattern) from Ullcentrum Preyarn 144 grams, Needle size 9 mm, size 32 x 36 centimetres.

Semi-Precious Shawl

Das nächste Tuch ist fertig, Semi-Precioous Shawl von Joyce Fassbender. Tücherfans sollten sich den Namen dieser jungen Stgrickdesignerin unbedingt merken, sie ist sehr begabt. Gestrickt aus 190 g superweichem Falkland-Kammzug, gefärbt von Helen. Größe 220 x 110 cm (ich habe Chart B noch vier mal wiederholt), Nadelstärke 5,5 mm.

The next shawl is finished, the Semi-Precious Shawl by Joyce Fassbender . Knitter who love to knit shawls should remember the name of this young creative designer. Knit from 190 grams supersoft Falkland roving, dyed by Helen. Size 220 x 110 cm ( I repeated Chart B four more times) needles size 5.5 millimetres.

Und hier ist meine neueste Spindel, eine Russian aus Cocobolo, 28 g schwer, gedrechselt von Enid Ashcroft. Sie läuft traumhaft.

Spinach Of The Seven Seas

Mein North Sea Shawl, Design Cheryl Oberle aus dem Buch Folk Shawls, ist fertig geworden. Gestrickt aus 200 g selbstgefärbtem selbstgesponnenem „Polarfuchs“ (leider sind die Fasern extrem trocken), 900 Meter Lauflänge, Nadelstärke 5,5 mm. Die Größe ist 220 x 70 cm. Meine Tochter meinte, das Tuch habe die Farbe von Spinat, also habe ich es Spinach Of The Seven Seas getauft. Leider kann man die richtige Farbe gar nicht sehen, das Tuch ist dunkler. Bei dem Dauerregen bekommt die Digitalkamera die Farbe nicht richtig hin.

Knitted from 200 grams selfdyed selfspun „Polarfuchs“, a blend of Icelandic fibres (and unfortunately very dry). 900 metres of yarn, needle size 5.5 millimetres, size 220 x 70 centimetres. My duaghter said the colour looks like spinach, so I named the shawl Spinach Of The Seven Seas.It is a pity that you cannot see the real colour, it is darker. Unfortunately it is raining cats and dogs since several days and the camera fails to catch the right colour in that permanent rain.

Tja, und dann läuft hier jetzt ein spannender Countdown. Habt ihr mal links auf den Besucherzähler geschaut? In den letzten Tagen hatte ich täglich 1600 bis 1800 Besucher hier im Blog. Das bedeutet, dass vorraussichtlich am Dienstag der einmillionste Besucher meinen Blog lesen wird. So langsam steigt die Spannung … und ich freue mich darauf und bin auch stolz, dass so viele Menschen gerne in meinem Blog vorbeischauen

Well … and then there is the countdown. Did you look at the Vositor’s counter on the left? In the last days, I had about 1600 to 1800 visitors per day. That means I will probably have my one millionth visitor on Tuesday. I start getting excited … and I really look forward to that and I am proud that so many people like to read a bit in my blog

Wolliges Tagebuch -Wooly Diary

Zunächst mal etwas nicht Wolliges. Eine Kollegin war beim letzten Spinntreffen hier. Nach vorheriger Absprache brachte sie ein altes Röhrenradio aus den 50igern mit, weil es kaputt war. Göga hat es ihr „mal eben“ repariert und wollte nichts dafür haben. Daraufhin hat sie uns Eier von ihren Hühnern geschenkt, es sind wohl besondere Rassen. Jeweils 6 von denen links und in der Mitte. Rechts zum Vergleich ein normales Hühnerei. Sind diese besonderen Eier nicht unglaublich niedlich?

Starting with something non-wooly: a colleague came to our last spinning meeting. She asked before if DH could have a look at her faulty valve/tube radio from the 50ies and brought it along. DH repaired it in a pretty short time, and he did not want anything for it. Therefore she gave us eggs from her speccial breed hens, six of each from the ones on the left and in the middle. On the right is a normal egg to have something to compare size. Aren’t they sweeeeet?

Während des Sspinnens habe ich reichlich gelesen, ua. diese Mystery-Serie Threadville Mysteries . Das Buch „Dire Threads“ hat mir gefallen, ich freue mich schon auf das nächste Buch der Serie. Wer etwas über die Personen erfahren will, kann unter dem Link etwas über diese lesen. Es sind „Blogeinträge“ von Killer Characters . Von hier aus kann man sich zu vielen Informationen über Mystery-Serien durchklicken.

Dann kam hier noch eine wunderschöne Russische Spindel von Enid Ashcroft an. Lindenholz und nur 17 Grann schwer, sie spinnt sich gut.

And a beatufil Russian spindle from Enid Ashcroft arrived last week. Lime and only 17 grams weight, it spins wonderfully.

Und nun bin ich einfach nur gespannt, wann der Besucherzähler hier in meinem Blog die eine Million überschreitet. Das dürfte noch in diesem Monat passieren.

Crepidula Shawl IV

Nun ist schon das vierte Crepidula Tuch fertig. Es sitzt aber auch zu gut. Man mag gar keine Dreiecktstücher mehr tragen, weil die nicht so gut auf den Schultern sitzen und gerne auch mal runterrutschen. Dieses Tuch trägt sich wie eine Jacke.

Now I finished my fourth Crepudila Shawl already. It fits so perfectly. If you have one of these, you might not like to wear triangular shawls any more, because they don’ fit so well on the shoulders and tend to slip of easily. This shawl fits like a jacket.

Gestrickt aus selbstgesponnenem handgefärbtem Kammzug, den ich bei Melinoliesl gewonnen habe.

Es gibt wieder einiges zu zeigen. Zunächst mal Spinnereien. Die hintere Wolle auf diesem Foto ist Masham. Vorgezogen wird die schon wesentlich pastelliger.

There is a bit I can show, I will start with spinning. The wool in the background is Masham. Predrafted the colours turn into pastel shades.

Und die fertig gesponnene Wolle hat dann eine Fülle von sanften Farben. Lauflänge 610 m, 200 g.

And the spun wool offers many different soft shades. Length 610 metres, 200 grams.

Ich nehme an einer Sammelbestellung von Bond-Wolle aus Australien teil. Vorab gab es schon mal Woll-Leckerli. 2 Lokcen und 1,8 g Bond-Wolle vom Bock Morwig, 1,8 g und 23 m. Und Optim Kammzug gab es auch, 50 g, das sind 2-fädig 320 m geworden. Die Fadendicke ist etwa von 4-fach-Sockenwolle.

I am taking part in a centralised buying of Bond wool from Australia. We got some wool candies in advance. 2 locks and 1.8 grams of Bond ram wool, which gave 23 m single yarn. And we also got 50 grams Optim roving, which spun to 320 metres, 2-ply. The thread is as thick as 4-ply sockyarn.

Eine Mütze nach meiner neuen Anleitung habe ich auch gestrickt, aus selbstgesponnener Wolle. Einem Schäfchen ist sie doch recht groß, aber zu zweit passt sie schon fast.

I knit a hat using my new papttern from selfspun wool. It is a bit huge for one sheep, but for two sheep it fits almost perfectly.

Reversible hat with basketweave and beehive pattern

Here is a pattern with the fashionable slouchy hat shape. And to prevent getting bored with your hat you can wear it from both sides. It is knitted from the bottom to the top.

My daughter Anne accepted to model for the hat (and yes, she absolutely wants to have the hat)

Wendemütze mit Korbflechtmuster und Bienenkorbmuster

Hier ist eine Mützenanleitung in der modisch weiten „Slouchy“ Form. Und damit es nicht zu langweilig wird, kann man sie von beiden Seiten tragen. Sie wird von unten nach oben gestrickt.

Meine Tochter Anne hat sich als Model zur Verfügung gestellt (und ja, sie möchte die Mütze unbedingt haben)

Pattern Verdal Jacket

At the weekend in summer 2011 when I spun the wool for this jacket, a horrible terrorist attack happened in Norway. It was hard to believe what happened there. I could completely sympathise with the Norwegians, feel their horror, sorrow and consternation. Norwegians are very cosmopolitan with all their heart. I also felt with my relatives in Norway, who live in Verdalsöra in the Verdal valley. That is why I called this jacket Verdal. I think this name is quite suitable because it shows that colours match that you would not usually put together. Which is the same with many different nationalities, that enrich a single nation.
