Wolliges Tagebuch – Wooly Diary

Auf dem Foto sieht man tolle Woll-Locken, die ich geschenkt bekommen habe. Von links nach rechts: Mohair, Wensleydale, Lincoln Longwool, Kidmohair. Und alles zusammen hatte in den kleinen Umschlag rechts gepasst. Und es gibt eine Geschichte zu diesem Geschenk von Helen (aus der Nähe von London). Helen war irgendwann auf die Ella Spinnräder von Tom Walther aufmerksam geworden. Und dann hat ihr Longdrawjames geraten, mit mir Kontakt aufzunehmen. Eine Bestellung bei Tom Walther hatte irgendwie nicht gelappt. Vierzehn Monate habe ich nach einem Ella Spinnrad für Helen Ausschau gehalten. Letzthin wurde dann eins in Köln angeboten. Diejenige wollte es aber nicht selber verschicken. Also brachte sie es bei mir vorbei, ich habe es doppelt verpackt und nach England geschickt. Spinnerinnen sind nun mal ab und an etwas verrückt, das gehört dazu. Helen konnte es gar nicht fassen, dass ich mir die Mühe gemacht habe, einer wildfremden Person ein Spinnrad zu schicken. Wegen des Poststreiks hat die Reise des Spinnrads dann eine ganze Woche gedauert, aber es ist heil angekommen. Das Spinnrad wog ca. 6 kg, die Verpackung, Pappe und Wolle, etwa 10 kg. Helen war so begeistert, dass sie mir diese wunderschönen Woll-Locken auf dem Foto schickte.

And they all came in the small envelope to the right. an there is a story about this gift from Helen (she is living near London). A while ago, Helen noticed the Ella spinning wheel by Tom Walther. Longdrawjames advised her to contact me. She had tried to order an Ella wheel but somehow the order did not go through. I was on the lookout for an Ella wheel for Helen for fourteen months now. A short while ago, one was offered in Cologne. But the owner did not want to send it herself. So she brought it to me, and I packed it in a double box and sent it to England. Spinners are a bit crazy every now and then, that is part of being a spinner, isn’t it? Helen could not imagine that someone was willing to take the effort and send a spinning wheel to a stranger. Due to the postal strike the journey of the spinning wheel took one week to travel to England, but it arrived undamaged. The wheel itsself weighs about 6 kg, the packaging, cardboard boxes and wool, weighed about 10 kg. Helen was so pleased that she sent me those wonderful wool locks in the photo.
