Lion’s Lace Shawl
Geschrieben von beyenburgerin - Dezember 31, 2009
Here is another free pattern, Lion’s Lace Shawl. It can be knitted in any size you like, there is a 12-row-repeat.
If you want to know why it is called Lion’s Lace, you will find the answer here.
I like tiny patterns with a few yarnovers that are easy to keep in mind. You wont really need the instructions after a while, it just knits by itsself.
Unfortunately we had no nice weather so far to take a nicer photo.

There seems to be parts of the pattern missing–the first 22 rows. I like the pattern and would like all the knitting directions.
beyenburgerin sagte
Soory, Jacque, but when I open the PdF it shows the pattern from row 1 onwards. Cannot find anything missing.

Hi Mary,

I deleted your email address in your comment, so that you wont get spam emails. Just write another comment if it doesn’t work.

Hallo beyenburgerin,
Tuch in zwei Dreiecken…”

Do you have line-by-line written instructions for this pattern? Before I start a pattern, I always go through it to see if I completely understand it before I get caught in the middle, and I have a problem. My problem is in the beginning.
According to the written instructions, I should have 13 stitches on the needles before I continue with line 3 of the charts, but according to the written instructions, I should work do this BEFORE I continue to line 3 of the charts: (k3, yo, k, yo, k (stitch between the triangles), yo, k, yo k3)
Line 3 of the charts would have only 5 stitches when completed, instead of the 13 listed above.
This is a beautiful pattern, and I wold like to knit it as a gift for a friend, but there is no way I can continue with such a discrepancy in the instructions.
Thanks for your help -
Michael J Keller
beyenburgerin sagte
Hi Michael,
there are no written instructions.
Row/Line1: k3 (right edging), yo, k, yo (right triangle), k (center stitch), yo, k, yo (left triangle), kr (left edging). = k3, + k + k + k + k3 = 9 stitches
Row/Line 3: k3 (right edging) yo, k3, yo (right triangle), k (center stitch), yo, k3, yo (left triangle), k3 (left edging) = k3 + k3 + k + k3 + k3 = 13 stitches
You repeat Chart1 twice in a row, one for each triangle.
Does that help? After that you will SEE waht you have to knit.

Do you drop the yarn overs in the next row you are knitting or do you knit them?

I’m having problems with Chart 2. I think I’m not getting the repeat, for it, right. Could you explain how to execute the edging, please?
beyenburgerin sagte
The p3tog have to be above the p2tog of row 27 and the following p3togs above the p3togs of row 27.

I think where I’m getting messed up is between the garder boarder and the first/last p3tog cluster. Row 3 there are 3 stitches from the yo k yo of row 1. Chart only has two stitches before the k3 over the p3tog cluster. I understand how to work across the body (except maybe on either side of the center stitch for the same reason). I’m just missing how each half (triangle) starts and ends. I followed chart 1 easily enough I’m not sure why I can’t get chart 2 figured out.

I will look into that problem later, not time atm, and I deleted your email address, that should not be public.

Row 1: k, yo, p, p3tog, p, yo
Row 3: k, yo, k (the yo of the previous row), yo, k3 ( the p, p3tog, p of the previous row), yo, k ( the yo of the previous row), yo
I hope that makes sense, this is not my mother tongue.

Yes, that resolved the issues I was having. I see now what was causing me to err in following the chart.
Thank you for your time. This will be the first lace shawl I’ve completed.
