Strickfilztasche – Knitfelted Bag

Es war einmal, vor nicht allzu langer Zeit, ein Vlies von Wollpoldi. Daraus wurde der Strickfilzkorb Poldi Basket.

There once was, not quite that long ago, a fleece bought at Wollpoldi. It became the knitfelted Poldi Basket.

Das Vlies hat mich gereizt, es wollte recht zügig versponnen werden. Herausgekommen sind 999 g Wolle mit 1335 m Lauflänge, navajo gezwirnt.

The fleece tempted me, it wanted to be spun rather fast. The result was 999 g yarn and 1335 m yardage, chainplied.

Und dann wollte die Wolle eine Strickfilztasche werden. Und ja, ich werde eine Anleitung dazu schreiben, in mehreren Größen.

And then the yarn wanted to become a knitfelted bag. And yes, I will write a pattern in different sizes.

 

 

 

Webfilzdecke – Woven Felted Blanket

Größe nach dem Filzen 102 x 169 cm / size after felting 102 x 169 cm

Die Merinowolle war ja nun gesponnen und gefärbt. Eine spezielle Wolle, die schon fünf Jahre rumlag, mehr dazu hier.  Ich hatte mir vorgenommen, eine Decke zu weben und zu filzen. Merino zu filzen ist ja nicht so schwierig, aber was das Weben anging, so war diese Decke erst mal bockig. Ich hatte als Kette Teksrana Wolle ausgesucht und gefärbt und dachte, dass die bei so viele Fäden doch eigentlich halten müsste. Das klappte aber nicht, immer wieder rissen die Kettfäden, es war echt nervig. Ein Grund mehr, schnell fertig zu weben um ein brauchbares Ergebnis zu sehen. Die Decke ist ein Faltgewebe, also doppelt gewebt, aber mit einer Seite offen.

The merino wool was spun and dyed. A special wool that I had for five years already, more about it here. I intended to weave and felt the blanket. Merino is easy to felt, but concerning the weaving the blanket did not intend to be woven. I had dyed Teksrana wool for the warp and thought so many threads wont tear apart. But they did again and again, it was really getting on my nerves. One more reason to finish weaving fast to see an acceptable result. The blanket is woven folded, two layera with one side open.

Zwei Taschen – Two Bags

Die gewebte gefilzte Notebooktasche und die große gewebte gefilzte Tasche aus Teksrana Regenbogen sind fertiggenäht. Die Notebooktasche hat zwei Vordertaschen für Zubehör und die große Tasche ist 40 x 40 x 18 cm groß. Beide haben als Tragegurt gestrickte und gefilzte I-Cord-Schnüre.

I finished sewing the woven and felted netbook bag and the big woven felted bag from Teksrana rainbow coloour. The netbook bag has two front bags for accessoiries and the big bag measures 40 x 40 x 18 cm. Both have knitted and felted I-Cord straps.

Und hier ist noch einmal die Etstehung im Rückwärtsgang / here is the way into existence seen backwards

Ein Faden fester gezwirnt für die Kette, zwei Fäden rechtsrum verzwirnt für den Schuss. / One thread twisted tighter for the warp and two threads twisted together to the right for the warp.

Filzereien – Some Felting

Im Moment bin ich nicht so fit. Aber einfach Muster zu stricken und dann zum Filzen in die Waschmaschine zu schmeißen geht immer.  Hier sind ein paar Sachen nach eigenen Enwürfen.

Right now I am not really fit. But knitting simple patterns is still possible, and then trowing them into the washing machine for felting. Here are some things I made, my own designs.

Dies Filzkörbchen ist aus 100 g dreifädiger Ölandwolle. Ich überlege, ob ich mal die Anleitung aufschreibe / This felted basket is knitted from 3-ply Öland wool. I think about writing down the pattern.

Und dieses gewebte Stoffstück ist auch ganz toll verfilzt. / And this woven fabric also felted very nicely

Neues wolliges Jahr – New Wooly Year

Ein neues wolliges Jahr ist angebrochen, aber ich muss doch noch einiges aus den letzten Tagen des letzten Jahres zeigen. Da waren z.B. wollige Weihnachtsgeschenke, die beutzt oder verarbeitet werden wollen.

A new wooly year has started, but I still have to show a bit of the last wooly ays of the last wooly year. Eg there were wooly Christmas presnets that have to be worked with or worked on.

Und schon ist sie gesponnen. 100 g pastellige zweifädige BFL mit 455 Meter Lauflänge und 120 g sonniggelbe zweifädige Merino mit 600 m Lauflänge.

And it is already spun. 100 grams pastel 2-ply BFL with 455 metres  length and 120 grams sunnycoloured 2-ply Merino with 600 metres length.

Handgefärbte Kammzüge von der Spinnmaus. Der erste ist gesponnen, Merino/Bambus zweifädig 100 g und 460 m, der zweite, Masham, zum Spinnen vorgezogen. Handdyed rovings by Spinnmaus.

The first is already spun, Mrino/Bamboo 2-ply 100 grams and 460 metres. The second, Masham, is predrafted.

Die neuen Enid Ashcroft Spindeln laufen gut.  Ich spinne ja wenig mit Spindeln, aber diese machen Spaß.

The new Enid Ashcroft Spindles run perfectly. I don’t do a lot of spindle spinning, but these are fun.

Dann habe ich diese Filztasche noch gar nicht gezeigt, aus 100 g zweifädig gesponnenem Evilla Vorgarn.

Es gab noch ein schönes Schafsbuch von Göga und einen tollen Lämmerkalender von Sanne

zu Weihnachten.

For Christmas I got a nice book from DH and a nice lambs calendar from Sanne.

In der Spiinngruppe haben wir gewichtelt, ich bekam wunderschön superweiche BFL / we had a Julklapp in our spinning group, I got wonderful and very soft BFL

Und ich habe selber noch ein bisschen gefärbt. Kaschmirersatz in Fuchsia und Cotswold in Rostorange. And I dyed a bit myself, false Cashmere in Fuchsia and Cotswold in a rusty orange.

         

Ich glaube, das war es erst mal. I think that is it so far.

Henne und Küken – Hen and Chicken

Hier ist eine gestrickfilzte Netbooktasche, die unsere Tochter auch noch zum Geburtstag bekommen hat. Sie ist ja Hühnerfan, und es war noch einiges an Filzwolle übrig. Sie hat sich über die Hühner-Vollausstattung  sehr gefreut. Die Tasche ist eine eigene Idee.

Here is a knitfelted netbook bag that our daughter got for her birthday as well. She likes hes and there was some felting wool left. She was happy to get a total-hen-equipment. The bag is my own idea.

Am letzten Wochenende hatten wir ein Spinntreffen. Göga hat eine neue Motoreinheit für mein Little Gem II gebaut, diesmal mit einem Maxon-Motor. Maxon-Motoren waren im Marsmobil. Und was für Marsmobile gut ist, kann für mein Spinnrad nicht schlecht sein.

Last weekend we had a spinning meeting. DH built another motor unit for my Little Gem II, using a Maxon motor this time. Maxon motors were built into the Mars Car. And things that are good for Mars Cars cannot be bad for my spinning wheel.

Das Ella Spinnrad fährt jetzt auch auf Maxon. Diese Motoren sind unglaublich leise, das Windgeräusch des Spinnflügels ist lauter.

My Ella wheel drives on Maxon as ell now. These motors are incredibly quiet, the wind sound of the fyler is louder than the motor itsself.

Mit elektrischen Antrieb kann man einfach schneller spinnen. Das hier habe ich an einem Nachmittag und Abend gesponnen, 600 Gramm Wolle, nicht allzu dick. Corriedale, holländisches friesisches Milchschaf, Merino.

You can spin just faster with an electric drive. I sun this wool on an afternoon and evening, 600 grams of yarn that is not spun too thick. Corriedale, Dutch Frisian milksheep, Merino.

Die Corriedale bleibt einfädig für ein Tuch. Es sind 300 Gamm und ca. 700 Meter. Eigenttlich müsste das ein Frühlingstuch werden, aber ich habe wieder soooo viele Ideen, dass ich nicht weiß, ob ich das in diesem Jahr schaffe.

The Corriedale will be single and become a shawl. The weight is 300 gram and 700 metres. Regarding the colours it should become a spring shawl, but I got sooo many ideas again that I am not sure if I will make it to knit another shawl this spring.

Hahnentasche – Rooster Bag

Unsere Tochter hat bald ihrem 25. Geburtstag. Sie findet Hühner toll, deshalb bekommt sie eine besondere Tasche zum Geburtstag. Die Tasche ist ein eigener Entwurf.

Our daughter will have her 25th birthday soon, she likes hens etc., that is why she will get a special bag as a birthday present. The bag is my own design.

Drei Farben Merino Kammzug, selbstgesponnen in einer guten Dicke für eine Strickfilztasche.

Nach dem Filzen hat das Strickteil nur noch etwa die halbe Länge und Breite, ist also insgesamt auf etwa ein Viertel der Ursprungsgröße geschrumpft. Aber der Hahn sieht so noch etwas leblos aus. Übrigens ist der Hahn von beiden Seiten zu sehen, die andere Seite ist gegengleich.

After felting the bag has only half of its length and width, so it totals in having shrunk to a quarter of the original size. But this rooster still looks a bit inanimate. The rooster can be seen from both sides, on the other side just the other way round.

So sieht der Hahn schon lebendiger aus. Ich habe selbstgefärbte Gotlandlocken gemischt und mit einer halbrunden Polsternadel eingezogen. Für den täglichen Gebruach sind die einzelnen Haaare aber so zu empfindlich.

The rooster looks more alive lik this. I sewed in mixed selfdyed Gotland curls with a halfround upholstering needle. Bute the single hair is too delicate for everyday use.

Also werden die Gotlandlocken angefilzt, die fertige Tasche sieht so aus. Jetzt fehlt nur noch ein passender Knopf zum verschließen.

So the Gotland curls are felted slightly and this is what the finished bag looks like. Now I only have to find a matching button for closing the bag.

Jetzt habe ich noch etwas von der Wolle übrig, daraus soll eine Netbook-Tasche werden.

There is some wool left, I plan to knit a netbook bag from that wool.

Filztasche – Felted Bag

Vor einiger Zeit habe ich das Buch Knitter’s Stash erbeutet, ein MUST HAVE für Spinner, wie ich finde. Das erste Projekt ist fertig, eine Filztasche/-korb. Gestrickt aus Hermann und etwas Gotländischer Pelzschafwolle.

Lately I got a copy of Knitter’s Stash, IMHO a MUST HAVE for spinners. I finished my first project, a felted bag/basket. Knitted from coloured Merino plus grey Gotlandsheep.
